If it was free, I wouldn't touch it. The old versions, when it was badged MGI photosuite, had their limitations but were relatively intuitive.
Now some clever clogs has changed the interface, reduced the options (I have Roxio 8), and the whole thing is an utter pain. You are not in charge. It's a slow learning curve, not at all user friendly, and almost seems to oppose everything that was good about MGI. If only they knew enough to leave it alone rather than turn MR Gizmo loose who has then ruined a decent enough program.

I ditto that and I paid $50 for it when I got a new HP PC a couple of months ago. The only feature that I like on it is the photo straightening. It has lots of finicky features with mediocre results. I miss the free software that came with my Canon powershot pro1 digital camera that is packed away somewhere. I can easily do whatever I want on it. This roxio software is pidgeon droppings. Plus, it just stopped working because of a runtime error so I deleted it. That's fifty bucks down the toilet.
