The graduated filter and adjustment brush are worth the cost of the upgrade by themselves. But some ability to make irregular selections, particularly that might be used to easily mask an element from the effects of the graduated filter, is still needed (I'm still getting acquainted with the new features, so perhaps this exists in some way that I haven't yet discovered).
